HOSTING A DEFENSIVE TACTICS COURSE

Thank you for considering hosting a Strategic Self-defense & Gunfighting Tactics (SSGT) Defensive Tactics and/or Equalizer Instructor course. Hosting our training in your area can help your agency and the surrounding law enforcement community save significantly on travel and lodging expenses, making the training more cost-effective.

HOSTING OPTIONS:

HOST OPTION #1 – OPEN REGISTRATION: The agency serves as the host for other law enforcement, corrections, and military personnel to attend the course at their facility. Participation is open to qualified personnel from any law enforcement, corrections, and military police agency. Acceptance of security personnel is on a case-by-case basis.

HOW TO REGISTER: SSGT & Equalizer participants are to register online at www.gossgt.com (Click on Upcoming Courses). All participants are to make payments and forward them to:

HOST OPTION #2 – RESTRICTED REGISTRATION: The agency hosts the course exclusively for their department and fills it with their personnel only. This type of registration is restricted to officers of the host agency. Participants are not required to register online.

HOW TO REGISTER: The Host Agency will provide a roster of attendees to SSGT no less than 10 days before the course’s start. SSGT will coordinate with the Host Agency to determine the number of participants and the cost of training. The agency will make payment for the training and forward it to:

COURSE MINIMUMS & MAXIMUMS FOR OPEN AND RESTRICTED REGISTRATION:

  • Minimum: 14 officers
  • Maximum: 30 officers

*Note: Two (2) members of the Open Registration Host Agency are admitted free for every 14 paying participants to give credit to the host agency’s recruitment efforts. This does not apply to Restricted Registration Host Agencies.

Checking the box below signifies that I understand and agree that  if Open Registration is selected, and I am unable to secure the minimum number of paying registrations 10 days prior to the course start-date, the program shall be cancelled.

Checking the box below signifies that I understand and agree that if Restricted Registration is selected, it is my responsibility to notify all registered parties in the case of program cancellation.

SSGT - Current law enforcement, corrections, military police and/or security officers should be prepared to show a copy of valid department / organization credentials.

Equalizer - Same as above but also includes state certified educators/school teachers.

SSGT Defensive Tactics will use the internet and email to advertise the course(s), but assistance from the “Host” with regional program notification to the surrounding Law Enforcement Community is required. A sample informational flyer will be provided via e-mail to the “Host” by SSGT Defensive Tactics for the course(s) selected upon program confirmation.

- A classroom of sufficient size to accommodate students with seating arrangements suitable for taking notes and written exams;
- A matted floor consisting of 1 1/2" - 2 1/2" thickness. Mats must be soft enough for falling but firm to  the point that they do not sink in under average foot pressure;
- There must be 50 square feet of adequately matted floor mats per participant;
- First Aid / Trauma Kit;
- Restrooms and drinking water must be within reasonable walking distance from the training room.

SSGT Level One Instructor, & Equalizer Instructor Courses
- Plastic or rubber training knives or safe substitute (one knife per two participants)
- Padded hand-held striking targets
- Body shields (recommended but not required)

SSGT Level Two Instructor & SSGT Alpha Instructor Courses
- Non-firing training handguns (one handgun per two participants)
- Duty belt and holster (recommended)
- Non-firing training long guns (one long gun per two participants)
