Combat Operational Experience: While assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), deployed multiple times to Middle-East as a Senior Weapons Sergeant on Special Forces A Detachment (ODA-3321). Served as the Primary Sniper for the detachment while conducting countless urban and rural operations. These operations were conducted both unilaterally and by, with, and thru indigenous forces.
  • Senior Weapons Sergeant and Detachment Sniper for combat deployment to Mosul, Iraq in 2004. Conduct daily patrols and nightly sniper operations in an urban environment to capture or kill insurgent forces. Responsible for analyzing insurgent patterns, developing courses of action to counter Improvised Explosive Device networks, and deployed in small teams to interdict enemy personnel with long range precision fires. Credited with eliminating numerous insurgent IED cells.
  • Member of a 12 man Special Forces A-Detachment deployed to remote regions of Afghanistan to conduct counter terrorism operations (2005-2009). Responsible for fire base security, training indigenous base security forces, training indigenous strike force, and leading small unit operations into terrorist’s stronghold regions. Conducted sniper operations across the operational continuum to degrade anti-coalition force capabilities.
Sniper Training Experience: Served as a sniper on a Special Forces Operational Detachment – A. Managed sniper training for Special Forces Sniper teams, companies, groups, and the Special Warfare Center.
  • Distinguished Honor Graduate Special Forces Sniper Course in 2007. (Ft. Bragg, NC)
  • Graduated the Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) Advanced Sniper Course in 2008. (Camp Lejune, NC)
  • Served as the primary marksmanship instructor for the Special Forces Sniper Course. Responsible for ensuring the proficiency of all sniper instructor cadre and the training of Special Forces sniper candidates in Sniper Marksmanship, Unknown Distance / Field Shooting, Rapid Target Engagement, Night Firing Techniques, Alternate Position Firing, High Angle Firing, Loop Hole Shooting, Barrier Penetration Shooting, and Shooting from Rotary Winged Aircraft.
  • Trained indigenous snipers in mountainous regions of Afghanistan to conduct rural Direct Action and counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED) operations.
  • Served as the Project Manager / Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) for the Special Forces Sniper Course (Level 1) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and Schools (JFKSWCS). This course is the proponency for all Special Operations Force’s Sniper Training. Led a 24 man sniper training detachment responsible for training over 200 resident Special Forces sniper students and 100 mobile training team sniper student for the U.S. Army’s Special Operation Command. Oversaw all aspects of Special Operations Sniping
  • Used years of Combat Sniper experience to update the SFSC Program of Instruction to meet the realities and challenges of the modern battlefield. Enhanced the training methodology used to train SF snipers resulting in a 25% increase in student graduation.
  • Winner of the 2010 International Sniper Competition at Ft. Benning, GA.
  • SOCOM Sniper Interoperability Standards board member.
  • Retired after 20 years of Active Duty service in August 2013
